Fairfax Golfer Edition, Sept. 8, 2023

Toughest holes in the county, new course re-opening in Loudoun County and more...

But first…watch this ice cold putt from our guy Bill Murray.

What are the toughest holes in Fairfax County

So, we know you all definitely have your own opinions about this subject but for now check out our thoughts on the hardest holes in Fairfax County. Please note we are only factoring in public courses.

(1) The 15th Hole at Laurel Hill: PAR 5

The par-5 15th hole at Laurel Hill is known to be one of the longest holes in Fairfax County. It measures around 620 yards from the back tees.

As you approach the green, the fairway narrows, making accuracy and precision paramount. The green itself is well-guarded, with bunkers strategically placed to challenge your approach shots. It's a multi-tiered green that demands a deft touch with the putter.

Start video below at 10:00 minutes in for Par 15.

(2) The 8th Hole at Westfields: PAR 4

This course features a challenging par-4 8th hole that stretches to approximately 470 yards from the championship tees.

The most challenging hole at Westfields Golf Club is undoubtedly this par 4. To navigate it successfully, golfers must aim their tee shot down the left side of the fairway, strategically avoiding a sizable oak tree that stands sentinel on the right side of the green.

Additionally, a collection of fairway bunkers and a substantial greenside bunker stand ready to ensnare any wayward second shots. Scoring a four on this hole is indeed an impressive achievement.
