Cheat Sheet for Fairfax County Public Golf Courses
Burke Lake
Burke Lake Golf Center is a slightly wooded 18 hole, par 3 course for golfers of all playing abilities. Beginners and seasoned players alike will enjoy the challenge to their short game.
Greendale
Greendale Golf Course is an 18-hole regulation course featuring 148 acres of rolling terrain with asphalt cart paths. The course provides a challenging design with tight Bermuda fairways and several water hazards. The 17th hole offers a spectacular view of the entire course and surrounding area.
Jefferson District
Jefferson District Golf Course is a beautifully landscaped 9 hole executive course which features a gently rolling playing surface with four ponds, ideal for golfers who prefer walking. The course offers a challenging round of golf and includes a par five and some demanding par fours.
Laurel Hill
Laurel Hill Golf Club has some of the best conditions of any public course in the area, which is why it is popular amongst the locals. It is hard to believe that the club sits where the DC Department of Corrections facility at Lorton used to be located. The layout has a traditional design, but unlike older golf courses it runs a lengthy 7,102 yards from the back tees. The greens are lightning fast and undulating. There is defined contouring throughout the course, which allows for some interesting holes. Although the fairways are wide open they are still punishing towards errant shots. There are dramatic elevation changes throughout the golf course, making a flat lie nearly impossible to find. The course provides a formidable test for even the most seasoned players.
Oak Mar
Oak Marr Golf Center, acclaimed as one of the finest teaching facilities in Northern Virginia, includes not only the challenging 1,456 yard, 9-hole par three golf course, with holes from 95-200 yards, but also a lighted 78 station driving range with target greens and covered, heated tees.
Pinecrest
Pinecrest Golf Course is a par 35, 9-hole executive course, measuring 2,462 yards. The challenging, narrow course is dotted with hills and ponds that create a golfing environment suited for novices and more serious players alike. The indoor Wayne Valis Family Golf Center offers tour-grade technology with our TrackMan golf simulator.
Twin Lakes
Twin Lakes Golf Course offers golfers the opportunity of a full day of golf with two 18-hole courses. Inaugurated in 1998, The Oaks’ par 71 and 6,715 yards challenge all golfers with multiple tees to ensure a fair test for all playing abilities. Every hole except one is tree-lined on both sides of the fairway, making accuracy the primary goal off the tee. Opened in 1967, the Lakes Course features a par-72 and 6,695-yard experience that requires more distance off the tee, but is much more forgiving than the Oaks Course.
